It has been another beautiful day in Iceland, so clear that we have seen the summit of Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano that erupted in 2010 and caused many flights to be grounded. We have visited waterfalls, watched puffins nesting on the coast, walked to view a glacier and seen some amazing basalt caves on the Reynisfjara black sands beach.
Day 2 was action packed and we saw many of the sights on the 'golden circle'. First we visited a geothermal power station that generates enough electricity and hot water for Reykjavik, then we went onto the Kerid volcano. This was followed by a visit to the Gullfoss waterfalls, the Strokkur geysir that erupts every 7 - 10 minutes, then on to Thingvellir where we could see the rift valley formed from the separating tectonic plates. Finally we all relaxed in the Blue Lagoon.
